When will you hear the cries
Rising from the basement below?
When will you believe the screams
Breaking from behind the door?
Must they turn bloody
Before you turn your attention
To the broken soul on the floor?
Children are hiding in silence and shame
Whilst you flaunt your perfect name
No, this problem we cannot tame
The world is changing, up your game
Smartphones and tablets will not dry
Their little puffy red-scarred eyes
College degrees and travels abroad
Will not cure their blood-stained core
Would you dare to break the wall
To protect their peace and innocence?
Or would you rather stand by and wait
To pick up what is left
In the immeasurable shattered mess
